It can be overwhelming to navigate the world of new technology and figure out which charger cable is compatible with your latest iPhone or how to convert X to Y so that your new computer can still connect with your older devices, especially if you're a Macbook user.
At Select Tronix, our job is to stay up-to-date on all of these details so that we can provide seamless guidance to consumers without causing frustration or confusion. You don't need to stress over the differences between a 60W, 100W, and 240W USB-C Cable, or whether it supports data transfer - that's our job.
Chargers
When looking for cheaper chargers, prioritize safety. Only use MFi Certified and Apple Direct Cables. Here's how to tell a Genuine from a Fake Apple Cable: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204566.
When it comes to charging blocks and cables, there are many MFi Certified brands to choose from.

When it comes to Macbook Computers, it's important to stick with OEM Blocks to avoid any damage to the Motherboard caused by a surge from a third-party block. I've witnessed firsthand the aftermath of spilled champagne on a charge port, powered by a third-party charging block that lacked a proper short circuit detection, resulting in a very expensive repair for their $2,500 Macbook Pro M2.
This is why we do not offer 3rd Party Mac Power Blocks and recommend investing in OEM Blocks instead. There are four types of Macbook chargers available (Magsafe 1/2/3/USB-C) and it's essential to go up in wattage but never down. Going down won't harm the device, but it won't charge it correctly either.
At Select Tronix, we specialize in Macbook Board Level Repairs using stations equipped with Microscopes, Hot Air/Solder Stations, Digital Schematics, and the occasional advice from Louis Rossman to tackle difficult repairs. If you have a non-functional Macbook and require repair services, we offer a convenient mail-in repair option. Just send us a chat message or give us a call @ 904-849-1208.
When purchasing a replacement MacBook charger, it's a good idea to choose the next wattage level up. This will help reduce the strain on the charger and increase its lifespan. The cost difference is usually minimal, ranging from zero to just a few dollars. If you're unsure which charger is right for your MacBook, don't hesitate to ask us in the chat (located at the bottom right of the screen). Just be sure to include your model number, which begins with a capital "A," such as A1706.
It's acceptable to use third-party USB-C cables, as long as they are MFi-certified. A recent leak suggests that the new iPhone 15 may only support MFi Certified USB-C Cables and limit their functionality if they are not. To simplify things, we've listed the highest wattage rating Chargers that are compatible with all Macbooks using MagSafe or USB-C versions.
